Dr. Klein had a distinguished career in the field of education and was Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern California beginning in 1992. While working as an elementary school teacher, she pursued her graduate degrees. After achieving her doctorate, Dr. Klein served as a research and consultant. A specialist in curriculum and instruction, Klein spent much of her career at UCLA and then Pepperdine University, before becoming Associate Professor of Education at USC in 1980, where she stayed for the remainder of her career.

An active force in education, Klein held memberships in the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Society for the Study of Education, Pi Lambda Theta, Phi Delta Kappa, and the National Academy of Education. She became a member of Kappa Delta Pi in 1953 and was named to its Laureate Chapter in 1995.

Klein was published widely through books, periodicals, research reports, and speeches, and served on the editorial boards of numerous publications. Klein received many honors in her career and was recognized as Eminent Educator by the National Association of Laboratory Schools and Eminent School Visiting Professor at Jacksonville (AL) State University, was holder of the Robert Naslund Endowed Chair of Curriculum Theory, and received a commendation from Kappa Delta Pi for outstanding service to the Society.
