Dr. Frank B. Murray has been a leader in the development of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) and currently serves as the first president. Through TEAC, Murray is shifting how the profession views national accreditation of teacher education. As more schools of education seek TEAC accreditation, faculty members are assuming responsibility for identifying valid and reliable data to support their programming. His impact already is evident; NCATE has started modifying elements within its accreditation model to reflect aspects of the TEAC Audit Process that Murray developed.

He has served in various capacities on editorial boards of several journals, including The Genetic Epistemologist, Review of Educational Research, and Journal of Teacher Education. Between 1994 and 1997, he was coeditor of the Review of Educational Research for the American Educational Research Association. In 1996 he edited The Teacher Educator’s Handbook for the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.

His leadership roles include those to Holmes Partnership, National Board, Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Council of Higher Education Accreditation, and Project 30 Alliance (president and cofounder), as well as a consortium of research universities engaged in educational reform.
