Schedule of Events

KDP Convo 2023, the Premier Conference for Future Teachers provides you with two-and-a-half amazing days of networking, learning opportunities, and more—such as exploring The Gateway to the West, St. Louis! Download Session Schedule

Each day will have presentations and thought leadership on topics such as diversity and the globalization of America’s classrooms. These sessions are designed to provide future teachers with the skills and competencies needed to enter today’s diverse classroom to help them thrive in their first years. Attendees will gain practical and implementable solutions for working with students, administrators, parents, and their whole community.

Thursday, November 2

KDP’s most valuable persons, Chapter Counselors, are invited to break away from the hustle and bustle of the conference and take advantage of a dedicated lounge for networking and snacks. The Chapter Counselor Lounge is sponsored by 240 Tutoring.

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm       Opening Keynote & Awards Session

Kick off KDP Convo 2023 with award-winning educator, leader, author, and creator—Dr. Howard Fields—who, in his first year as a principal, was responsible for navigating the Ferguson, Missouri, social unrest. Following his motivating and energizing keynote, five KDP members will be inducted into the Eleanor Roosevelt Chapter (a milestone achievement for KDP leaders), and we will recognize recipients of the following awards: Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Award, Distinguished Chapter Officer Award, and the Faye Snodgress Difference Maker Award.

5:30 pm –                          Welcome Gathering and Game Night

With snacks and refreshments until 7:00 pm, this evening has no set end time! Bring your favorite board game or deck of playing cards for a casual game night with newly made friends from KDP’s national network! It’s up to you when the fun ends!

The Chapter Counselor Luncheon is sponsored by Teaching Channel.

Following a panel of distinguished professionals, we will recognize recipients of the Chapter Program Award and Celebration of Teaching. The Career Panel is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

We’re going to wrap Convo up in style! Featuring a plated breakfast, KDP Convo attendees will hear an inspirational and empowering keynote by Maxine Clark, Founder of Build-A-Bear Workshop®. During this special time together, we will also recognize a few impressive award recipients, including the National Student Teacher of the Year, the Lucinda Rose Counselor of The Biennium, and the Florence B. Stratemeyer Award (formerly Ace of the ACE).
