Literacy Alive! — Awards and Recognition

When submitting the Literacy Alive! Collegiate Achievement Form, chapters will be eligible to receive a number of Awards and highlights.

The Literacy Alive! Collegiate Achievement Form will be scored using the Literacy Alive! Collegiate Rubric to determine first, second, and third place awards for each of the five categories. All chapters will receive a Literacy Alive! Chapter Participation Certificate as well as individual, electronic participation certificates for members involved in the planning and hosting of a Literacy Alive! event.

Click here for a template for submitting the names and email addresses of participating chapter members. This information is used in sending out the individual, electronic participation certificates and should be included on the Achievement Form.

Gold Award, 5 Chapters: Large chapter plaque, recognition in KDP communications, and a $20 Registration Discount for each chapter member attending Convo 2018.

Silver & Bronze Awards, 5 Chapters each: Small chapter plaque, recognition in KDP communications, and a $10 Registration Discount for each chapter member attending Convo 2017.

Chapter Spotlights
Along with the current 15 Gold, Silver, and Bronze Projects, KDP Chapters will now have additional ways to be recognized for their projects! In the 2017-2018 year, we will be introducing 5 new “Spotlights” for Literacy Alive! Work. These awards include:

Best Media Presence
Kappa Delta Pi understands the importance of media visibility. This award will be given to the Chapter that generates the largest media buzz around their project. Fire up Facebook, write to your Newspaper, call the local news, and tweet tweet tweet!

Best “Education for Sustainability” Project
How can humans live in ways that are more ecologically healthy, socially just, and economically viable? This question strikes at the heart of the Sustainability movement. This award will be given to the project which best addresses environmentalism, equitable social justice, or poverty.

Best New Project
The award will be given to Chapters that are in their first year of Literacy Alive! Programming. No project is too small or too new to make an impact!

Most Creative Project
This award will be given to the project with the most original approach to literacy. Many chapters are already tackling their service project in unique ways, and we encourage everyone to think about teaching in a “novel” way!

Community Partnership Award
As the name suggests, this award will be given to the Chapter that is able to pull together a strong network of collaborators. It is important to note that sheer size will not win your chapter this award. We will be looking at how chapters are able to leverage their relationships with other organizations to create the greatest collective impact.
