Program: Book Drive
Level: Moderate
Materials:
• Boxes
• Location for book drive
• Organization willing to accept donation
• Flyers

How To:
1. Contact a school, daycare, shelter, library, hospital, etc. willing to accept a donation of books.
2. Contact at least one venue from which the books can be collected.
3. Determine the length of the drive and persons responsible for each step of the process.
4. Begin advertising the collection by posting flyers, writing letters to elementary school parents, or even submitting information to a local newspaper.
5. Decorate and distribute boxes at predetermined locations.
6. Collect boxes, count books, and distribute to designated organization.

Add a Twist:
• Create bookplates with Kappa Delta Pi and university name
• Ask a local retailer to match the public’s book donation
• Encourage members to bring books to chapter meetings or events
• Promote the book drive as a competition between classrooms or clubs in order to help increase donations
• At the time of drop off, plan activities or bring snacks along with the books to the organization
• Make bookmarks or reading journals to accompany the donation
